At Imperial Floats, we pride ourselves in providing our clients with the highest standard of quality and the best possible service at a fair price. From a regular scheduled service right through to a custom build float or truck body or full refurbishment and respray in our commercial paint booth, our team can handle it.
Mick Otoole ,our workshop foreman heads up the workshop team and is a master float builder. Mick is a multiple qualified tradesman as a Fitter, Welder and Boilermaker and is widely considered one of the best float and truck body builders in Australia.
The rest of our team are all qualified metalwork tradesmen with extensive experience in float and truck body servicing and repairs and operate under the same ethos. Our workshop will never let a substandard job be performed let alone go out the door. Our boys take great pride in their work and you can rest assured that your repair or fabrication job will only ever need to be done once and it will be done correctly at a genuinely fair price.

Bearing grease in simple terms, is oil suspended in a fatty soap. Over time, the oil bleeds out leaving behind a gooey soap with little to no lubrication properties. Wheel bearings grease must be changed every 12 months whether you use the trailer or not!

Timber floors more than 2 years old require regular “UNDER THE RUBBER” floor inspection to detect urine rot and iminent floor failure.

Do you use a 7 Pin adapter with a 12 pin float plug, please ask us why thats illegal and very dangerous.

When float brake shoes fail, your cars brake fluid will quickly overheat causing a no brakes at all situation. When was the last time you had your float brakes checked?

Is your repairer a qualified tradesman or just a guy who has been doing it for ages? If not, your safety and insurance will be at risk if and when things go wrong
Services and Pricing
Float Service
Interim Service – includes bearing clean and repack – $295.00 (approx 2.5Hrs)
Full Service – Includes new bearings and brake pads – $495.00 (approx 4Hrs)
An Interim service should be performed every 12 months from new and a full service every second year or 10,000km whichever occurs first.
Safety Inspection
Comprehensive 36 point safety inspection Provided in detailed written form – $149.00 (approx 1.5hrs)
Covers: Body, chassis, suspention and brakes along with Internal compenents and operation, flooring and electrical. The ciritcal inspection items on your float are; Floor condition and moisture levels, break away system and brake pads, electrical system. A failure whilst float is in operation may result in a catastrophy.

For damage repairs, if you would like an estiamte before you make a booking or if you simply want a ball park repair figure, please use the booking form to attach an image of the damage

If your float is more than 2 years old, and in particular if you have a timber floor, please consider full 36 point safety inspection which is proivded in a detailed written form for your knowledge and peace of mind

Please be aware that we have hire floats available if you require and discounts may apply for hire of two days or more if your float is in service

A pick up and delivery service is available at a rate of $2.50 plus GST per Km to and from your premises if required
